Herald K is a Norwegian songsmith and singer based in Vienna, Austria. His latest album, ‚Mythologies‘ was released in May 2023. It’s a collection of tracks exploring ancient myths and ideas through song, in the folk noir fashion which seems to be Herald K’s current modus operandi. A lengthy project, which grew into fruition during the pandemic, ‚Mythologies‘ involves a number of talented and experienced collaborators in and around Vienna both on the performing and the production side. Unique soundscapes, due to special combinations of acoustic instruments, have been created here. Central to the record’s instrumental sounds is Stephan Steiner (of Hotel Palindrone, Harlequin’s Glance, Rembetiko), who has recorded nyckelharpa, violin, accordion, concertina and tin whistle onto these songs. But harmony and duet vocals, piano, bass, slide & pedal steel guitars, and harmonica also all contribute to the totality of these recordings, which have already garnered many favourable reviews internationally, and concert opportunities alongside esteemed artists such as Freeman Dre (Can), Early James (US), and Kevin Dempsey (UK).
